. We pay tribute to her long life of dedicated service to the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the world at large.
The late Queen was only twenty-five when she came to the throne in 1952 and Winston Churchill was Prime Minister. She went on to reign for more than seventy years, the longest serving monarch in British history. She is succeeded by her eldest son, who has now become King Charles III.
Her Majesty was a woman of many roles: monarch, mother, leader. She personified duty to public service and earned the respect of the world throughout her reign. She will be greatly missed.
In recognition of the close connection between the late Queen and her first Prime Minister, whom she created Sir Winston Churchill in 1953, the International Churchill Society will soon publish a special edition of its magazine Finest Hour celebrating the life of Elizabeth II.
